FTC-About Us

Team Summary

Started in 2009, our fifties-themed robotics team is thrilled to begin another year of FIRST! With around fifteen team members, four mentors, and countless hours of hard work, we are undeniably a dedicated bunch. Our passion lies in taking in everything we know and applying it to our robot, spirit, and engineering book, all while spreading our love for STEM. The fun we have working together and the lessons we learn as a team keep us both energized and excited to make every year a great year!

We also spread our love for STEM and robotics throughout our community. We give presentations to various youth groups, mentor local robotics teams, and demonstrate our previous FTC and FRC robots at several events in our community.

One characteristic that makes our team so unique is our spirit. During competitions, we have a choreographed dance to the song “Greased Lightning” from the movie, Grease. With props in and out of the pit, we also cheer in the stands for both our team and others in order to spread the true meaning of Gracious Professionalism.

Even more so, what makes our team so special is our teamwork and inclusivity of every individual in the process and components to our success. Each member knows about every aspect of our team and we could not make it a great season without everyone’s amazing contributions. We work hard at everything we do, never give up, and always give it our all. We are excited to take part in next year's game: RISE, and wish the best of luck to all the teams!

Meet the Team

Mentors

Angela Ashley has been a FIRST mentor for ten years since starting FTC Team 3888. She is the team’s lead mentor. When she began teaching, she asked our school for permission to start a robotics club because she wanted to use her engineering degree to get students excited about math and science. Our team leader has worn several volunteer hats: FTC and FRC mentor, league and state FTA, and South Florida League Chairman. She loves watching the students learn and grow, and finds it exciting to be apart of the robotics community. She believes that gracious professionalism sets FIRST and makes this program a great learning and volunteering experience.
